Top 12 Boys & Girls + Who's Going Home?

Simon or Randy said that this year is the girls year. I don't know which one said it nor does it matter but based on last night's Top 12 Guys episode, I definitely have to disagree. On that same note, neither the guys nor the girls this year are exceptional and only a handful are good enough to even possibly sell records. I've said this before and I'll say it again.. this season is boring. I'm so bored that I switch the channel and am barely motivated to write something here. Luckily the eye candy keeps me coming back for more. Just joking...kind of ;)

I'm not going to do a recap on each contestant because that's been done already this week on several awesome blogs like Rickey, VoteForTheWorst, and MJSBigBlog. Instead I'm going to list my favorites and predictions on who's leaving tonight.

My 3 Girl Faves:

Crystal Bowersox
Siobhan Magnus
Haeley Vaughn

The Two Girls I think Should Leave Tonight: ( I can honestly say however that at this point I don't care which girls leave or which girls stay because none of them really stand out for me)

Paige Miles
Michelle Delamor

The Two Girls That Will Probably Leave Tonight:

Paige Miles
Lacey Brown

My 3 Guy Faves:

Casey James
Andrew Garcia
John Park/Alex Lambert (tie)

The Two Guys I Think Should Leave Tonight:

Aaron Kelly
Tim Urban

The Two Guys Who Probably Will Leave Tonight:

John Park
Joe Munoz

Results show tonight at 8pm. Kris Allen will be performing.

The Top 12 Guys Perform: 60's Style

When American Idol makes the contestants perform old music (60s in last night's case) it rarely works out well for anyone. Last night was a perfect example of really bad song choices that just didn't work out. Out of twelve guys, only two of them really did well - Jason Castro and Michael Johns. If a fast forward button would have been an option last night, I would have definitely used it for the remainder of the guys. Except maybe I'd watch Luke Menard on MUTE. ;) He's definitely this year's eye candy.

Now for a run down of last night's performances:

David Hernandez: A good solid singer but boring and forgettable.

Chikezie: One of my early on favorites but after last night not so much.

David Cook
: The rocker guy. I wasn't very impressed with this performance at all. Again, another forgettable guy. And, seriously, there are just too many Davids this season. Very easy to mix the guys up.

Jason Yeager
: This is the first I have seen of this guy. He's a Dad so I think he will get votes based on being a parent. He can actually sing well but in a lackluster way. Jason sort of looks like a young Val Kilmer. Anyone agree?

Robbie Carrico: The boy band turned rocker. Like Simon said and I totally agree, I'm not totally convinced this guy is a true rocker. He may dress the part but what would he be better at? Take off the bandana, cut his hair, and he'd look more like a not so hot version of Justin Timberlake. Overall, his performance was just ok.

David Archuleta: Let me just say that I am just not getting all the excitement over this guy. Sure, he can sing consistently but is he current? NO. Would he sell well? Maybe if your target market is the High School Musical or Hannah Montana crowd.

Danny Noriega: Also an early favorite of mine and still is despite last night's not so great performance. I look forward to seeing and hearing what he does next. He's an interesting character.

Luke Menard: Luke was another one of new guys that we were introduced to last night. He is this year's eye candy but how far will that get him? I'm afraid that he may get booted out tonight due to his uninteresting performance last night. I hope the ladies kept him in so that we have something to look at. ;)

Colton Berry: A very theatrical guy and a solid performer but the Elvis song didn't work for him.

Garrett Haley. Love the name but his singing ability not so much. However, I'd like to hear him sing something current to see how he'd do. After last night he may not get the chance. I think he may be going home.

Jason Castro: Again, another guy that we haven't really seen before. Very talented and unique. I like this guy!

Michael Johns: Another solid performance probably the best of the night but I am already tired of him singing these kinds of songs. I want to hear something new from him.

My Picks For Who I Want To Be Eliminated: David Archuleta and David Hernandez

My Picks For Who Is Probably Going Home: Garrett Haley, Chikezie or David Cook.

Let's hope the girls do much better tonight.

The Top 12 Guys Performance

While the guys were singing their songs, I was puking in the toilet. Seriously, some 24 hour bug bit me and it wasn't pretty.

I wasn't fully coherent last night due to the above mentioned issue, so was it just me or did the guys SUCK. I actually thought Blake Lewis sounded good and had the best performance of the night. And, he's not even in my top 12 predictions. But, he is now. I'm changing it.

As far as who will get voted off tomorrow night, I'm going with either Sundance Head, Sanjaya Malakar, Rudy Cardenas, or Paul Kim. In my honest opinion (which probably doesn't count for much) Jason "Sundance" Head had the worst performance ever.

Along with Blake Lewis, Jarrod Cotter was my other favorite of the night. Who knew?

Tonight the girls will perform and I just hope it doesn't interfere with Lost because I'm possibly the only person left without tivo or a dvr or whatever that is...
